Natural Ingredients For Better Skin

After receiving cosmetic or nonsurgical treatments or your face and body, you might be surprised to learn that it isn’t always necessary to spend a ton of money on skincare products. Some of the most expensive creams and lotions contain simple ingredients you can often find right at home.

Take a look at these 5 natural elements that you can easily pick up at your local store, and incorporate into your daily beauty routine to achieve soft, supple, younger-looking skin.

1. Coconut Oil

Organic coconut oil is the result of hard pressing the meat of a coconut until the oil is all that is left. Coconut oil may be a bit heavy on the face for those with more oily skin but makes for a great out-of-the-shower moisturizer and shave cream. It’s full of vitamin E, healthy fats, and melts right into the skin.

2. Argan Oil

This oil is taken from the nuts of the Moroccan argan tree. The resulting oil is a light oil, rich in vitamin E, that is great for skin and hair. The antioxidants in this oil fight off free radical skin damage, and help improve skin’s elasticity while leaving a faint fresh scent.

3. Jojoba Oil

Jojoba oil comes from the seed of the jojoba plant—abundant in dry climates like Mexico—and can be used to soothe and nourish skin. It can even help with some of the side effects of a sunburn. Just a few drops of this anti-inflammatory oil are needed to saturate skin with a healthy dose of vitamins.

4. Honey

If you happen to be someone who suffers from acne, it is best to stay away from harsh exfoliators and stick to products that can kill bacteria. Honey in its raw form is great for fighting acne. It contains natural antibacterial elements and can calm irritated skin. Simply apply the raw honey to affected areas and let sit for 10-15 minutes. Rinse with warm water and moisturize as needed.

5. Rosewater

Another important key to keeping up glowing, clear skin is by using a gentle toner. Rosewater is easy to make and naturally brightening and refreshing. Here’s a recipe for rosewater that can help you save money in the comfort of your own home.

Rosewater Recipe:

You Will Need:

  • 7-10 organic roses
  • 2 liters distilled water
  • Cooking pot
  • Strainer
  • Glass jar
  • Empty spray bottle

Take your 7-10 rose stems and pull off all of the petals. Gently rinse the petals to get rid of any dirt. In a pot, pour in just enough distilled water (about 1.5 liters) to cover the rose petals and let simmer for 20-30 minutes. When the roses have reached a pale pink shade, strain the water from the petals, and throw away any leftover petals. Store your rosewater in a glass jar in the fridge. Get an empty spray bottle and pour in 1 Tbsp of rosewater and mix it with 4 Tbsp of remaining distilled water to get the right diluted mixture for your brand new facial toner.
