Lots of patients (mainly women) focus too much worry and energy on the fine lines around the eyes that do not tremendously impact their appearance, and some spend thousands of dollars each year on topical creams and solutions or even light therapy treatments that are available at department stores. However, what really make us look older than our age are the changes in the structure and shape of the faces over time. For example, this would include the hollowed look that can develop under the eyes or sunken cheeks. Structural changes such as these can tell tales about one’s age. Of course plastic surgery is an option to restore the youthful appearance of the face, but if patients are not ready to make that commitment yet, there are less invasive things your plastic surgeon can do to add fullness to the sunken and hollow areas of the face. Hyaluronic acid fillers are very effective at pluming. Restylane is an FDA approved dermal filler that is approved to add fullness to areas such as nasolabial folds, marionette lines, laugh lines, lipstick lines, corners of the mouth and lips. This dermal filler is designed for moderate to severe wrinkles and folds in the face. Restylane is not a permanent solution, but it does last well in patients and follow-up visits can restore the full correction received in previous treatments. As The Eisemann Cosmetic Surgery Center has reminded the Houston community in the past, patients seeking dermal fillers should seek treatment from a board certified plastic surgeon – not from an employee of a medical spa who may or may not be supervised by a physician who specializes in facial rejuvenation. Michael Eisemann, M.D. is triple board certified and has been practicing for greater than 30 years. For more information on facial rejuvenation, please contact our office today.
