Blepharoplasty, more commonly called an eyelid lift, is a surgery used to repair droopy eyelids. As we age our eyelids stretch and the muscles supporting them weaken, and sometimes excess fat will gather in the upper or lower eyelids. An eyelid lift is usually done as an outpatient procedure at the Eisemann Cosmetic Surgery Center, and during the procedure Dr. Eisemann removes excess skin and fat in the upper and/or lower eyelids. Because small incisions are made in the conjunctive tissue and creases of the upper eyelid, there is not visible scarring. The goal of the eyelid lift is to have a smooth transition from the eyelids to the cheek. The eyelid lift can be performed along with a brow lift for optimum results. In some patients, an eyelid lift will perk up the eyes, but leave the brow too low resulting in an unbalanced or brooding look. Dr. Eisemann has performed hundreds of eyelid lifts and brow lifts at his Houston Medical Center cosmetic surgery facility, and the results yield a fresh, new you.
