Am I a Good Candidate For Body Contouring?

The factors that can affect the shape of your body are diverse, including genetics, aging, weight gain or loss, pregnancy, and others.  Houston body contouring procedures can help both men and women attain their ideal physique when diet and exercise have fallen short. Body contouring is not intended primarily for weight loss, but to enhance and improve the overall form of the body.

Factors for Body Contouring Candidacy

Weight and Fitness:  body contouring is ideal for people who are within a healthy range for BMI, but have been unable to get the shape they have been working for. Weight changes can dramatically affect the physique, and body contouring should be undertaken once you have attained a stable target weight for at least a year. A high level of fitness greatly improves recovery and outcomes.

Overall Health:  Those who have chronic health conditions such as diabetes or heart disease may not be good candidates for body contouring. The physical challenges of any surgery can put you at risk of complications when an underlying medical condition is present. Even a cold or viral infection can put you at risk, so body contouring procedures should only begin when you are in the best of health.

Nutrition:  Dietary problems or nutritional deficiencies can impede the healing process. Body contouring should begin only after healthy habits are well established, including a consistent balanced diet and moderated alcohol consumption.

Smoking: The effects of smoking can be seen in every tissue of the body, decreasing your ability to heal and putting you at risk for serious complications. Body contouring should not begin until at least 8 weeks after quitting smoking.

The body contouring procedures that can help you achieve a form you can be proud of include liposuction, abdominoplasty, body lift, buttock augmentation, and even calf implants. Some of these procedures can be combined to meet your specific goals, as exemplified by the mommy makeover.

Practice Policy Update Regarding COVID-19

Dr. Michael Eisemann, Dr. Bradley Eisemann, and the entire staff at Eisemann Plastic Surgery are committed to the health and safety of all of our patients and ourselves.

We are thankful to be connected to Houston Methodist Hospital, one of the most respected hospitals in the country. Because of this, our screening policy is aided by the hospital's official policies and checkpoint screening measures completed prior to entering our building. These measures allow us to do everything we can, at this point in time, to minimize the chance that we expose ourselves or our patients to someone who has been sick or contagious with the virus.

We are set up to perform new consults and patient follow-ups via ZOOM video conferencing.

As of Monday, March 23rd, our office is open. We are open and seeing select patients. If you are currently on the schedule, please call our office if you have any concerns about your own health.

While all major hospitals have stopped elective surgery at this time, we are very selectively performing indicated operative procedures in our procedure room and in our AAAASF certified operating room under local and IV sedation.

As always, both Dr. Michael Eisemann and Dr. Bradley Eisemann are available by phone and email to answer any questions you may have.
