Goals of a Great Face LiftIf you've decided to have some facial work done in order to combat the signs of aging, you should know what to expect from a face lift. Depending on your needs, the goals for your surgery may be different than other patients. A face lift in general should leave you looking younger and refreshed, not “done.” A face lift should refresh your facial features, not just stretch your skin. For full facial rejuvenation, you will want to consider procedures such as:

  • brow lift
  • upper eyes
  • mid face lift
  • lower face lift

Your eyes are usually the feature most people see first, so if you want the most immediate change, starting with an eye lift to combat drooping upper eyelids or sagging lower lids can be the way to go. Combining eye work with an upper or mid face lift can give a more natural look to your rejuvenation.

There isn't one procedure that works for everyone, so in your consultations with Dr. Eisemann, he will help you decide which procedures are right for you. If you would like to learn more about Dr. Eisemann’s certifications and experience in providing high quality plastic surgery results, please contact Eisemann Plastic Surgery Center today at 713-766-0071 to schedule your appointment. We welcome patients throughout Houston and the surrounding communities.

Should You Get a Revision Rhinoplasty?Revision rhinoplasty, or secondary rhinoplasty, is a second rhinoplasty to improve the first, or primary. If you are unsatisfied with your primary rhinoplasty performed by another surgeon, then you may want to consider having a secondary rhinoplasty with Dr. Eisemann.

Some of the common reasons to have secondary rhinoplasty include:

  • To correct imbalances – this can happen with unanticipated healing complications from the primary rhinoplasty.
  • To open obstructions in your nasal airway.
  • To reinforce collapsed cartilage, bone, or nasal valve.
  • To achieve additional cosmetic changes not received from primary rhinoplasty. You may also want to correct an overdone primary rhinoplasty.
  • To correct tip issues such as a pinched tip, an excessive tip, or an inadequate tip.
  • To improve symmetry.
  • To lessen bridge.
  • To remove excessive scar tissue.

Revision rhinoplasty is more complicated than primary rhinpolasty. Cartilage grafts are often needed because of the large amount of cartilage removed during your first rhinoplasty.

Because of the small room for error, choosing a surgeon with extensive experience is incredibly important. Dr. Eisemann has over 20 years of experience with nasal surgery, as well as other types of facial surgery procedures.

If you are interested in revision rhinoplasty in the Houston area, contact Dr. Eisemann today at 713-766-0071 to schedule your consultation.

Smaller breast implants for 2016Many plastic surgeons are saying that women are having smaller breast implants these days. This trend seems to be a response to Hollywood, as many actresses have decided to downsize their breast implants for a more natural look.

Most notably in celebrity circles, Victoria Beckham and Pamela Anderson had breast reductions.

With the desire for a natural appearance with breast implants comes a rise in the popularity of silicone implants. Silicone implants are known to mimic the look and feel of natural breasts more closely then saline implants.

Saline implants used to be the popular option, because if they leak or rupture the solution is harmless to the body, but technology has improved silicone implants, making them safer.

Dr. Eisemann offers Anatomic Breast Implants which have a natural tear drop looking shape and a longevity that comes from their resistance to folding.

Dr. Eisemann has many breast augmentation options to give you the look and feel that you desire. During your consultation, he will address your concerns and find the option that suites you best.

When getting breast implants, choosing a board-certified surgeon with experience is the best way to ensure that you're in the right hands.

If you're interested in breast implants and in the Houston area, contact Dr. Eisemann at 713-766-0071 to schedule a consultation.

buttock augmentations on the riseWhether diet and exercise are just not getting the job done, or you want the Kim Kardashian or Nicki Minaj look, a buttock augmentation, better known as a butt lift, may be the way to go. The number of buttock augmentations is on the rise in the United States. The American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons estimates that over 21,000 people had the procedure done in 2014 (an 86% increase from 2013). The numbers from 2015, not yet completely tallied, seem to indicate a continuing upward trend.

There are two main types of a buttock augmentation done in the United States:

  • A fat graft augmentation, better known as the Brazilian butt lift, relocates fat cells taken from various body locations (such as the waist, hips, abdomen, and back) to specific locations in your buttocks. Multiple fat grafts may be needed since as much as 40% of fat can be reabsorbed. This option removes the risk of implant rejection and results in more natural-looking results.
  • Buttock implants can be longer lasting. Silicone implants are inserted below the buttock muscles or the fascia to produce the ideal look.

There isn't one procedure that works for everyone, so in your consultations, Dr. Eisemann will help you decide which is right for you based on a number of factors, including your body frame and your expectations.

If you would like to learn more about Dr. Eisemann’s certifications and experience in providing high quality plastic surgery results, please contact Eisemann Plastic Surgery Center today at 713-766-0071 to schedule your appointment. Houston skin care doctor - Dr. Michael EismannIt’s no secret that tanning beds are bad for your skin. While they give you your ideal skin tone, they wreak havoc on the underlying layers. Artificial tanning doubles or triples your risk for several types of skin cancer. Some men and women are willing to take that chance, but others might not know just how dangerous tanning beds can be, especially those under the age of 18.

The FDA is proposing to restrict the use of tanning beds to adults only. Over one million teens across the U.S. use sunlamps to reach their tanning goal. Sun exposure also puts you in danger of melanoma, but the UV lights involved in “fake-baking” put you at an even greater increased risk. The FDA is not planning to ban tanning altogether, but wants to eliminate teen use and provide more information on skin care to adults who choose to use this method.

The goal of the FDA proposal is to prevent minors from causing early damage to their skin and make adults sign a waiver that explains the health risks. They hope that this law will encourage manufacturers and tanning companies to explore safer options. The law will also ensure that an emergency switch or button is built into each bed, and it will limit the amount of light transmitted through eyewear.

Melanoma is just as dangerous as every other kind of cancer, but in most cases it can be prevented. Sunbathing and using tanning beds can do irreversible damage to your skin. There are other options like bronzing lotions and spray tanning, but these only last a few days at a time. Learn to love the skin you have and if tanning has already done some damage, consider treatments like IPL to improve sun and age spots, freckles, and pigmentation abnormalities.

For more information on skin care in the Houston area contact Dr. Michael Eisemann at 713-766-0071 today to schedule a consultation.

Plastic Surgery for 20 somethingsCosmetic surgery has historically been most utilized by people in their 50s and 60s, but that is changing. People in their twenties are seeking plastic surgery to remove their imperfections now more then ever.

CBSPhilly reports that “millennials are now the fastest growing age group having plastic surgery.” In fact, the percentage of those having plastic surgery has doubled in millennials from 5% to 10% since 2013.

Millennials, those born between 1981 and 1997, are surrounded by others with seemingly flawless and youthful appearances. Internet, television, and magazines are being filled with beautiful celebrities.

In this selfie-crazed world, twenty-somethings are also on display to the world, through social media, more often today more then ever. Whether to look more like their favorite celebrity or to fix a flaw in their selfie, millennials are choosing plastic surgery more then ever.

Botox, which The American Society of Plastic Surgery says is one of the most popular enhancement procedures, is the number one requested enhancement by millenials. Other popular cosmetic procedures include acid peal to remove sun damage, fillers for fuller lips or soften acne scars, non-surgical fat reduction, and hair removal.

Why Board Certification Really Matters? When researching plastic surgeons, many patients wonder whether board certification really makes a difference in the quality of service and results they can expect from their surgeon.

The truth is that plastic surgery is major surgery. You don’t want to trust that to just any person with a medical or dental degree, which is what you might get if you aren’t selecting a board-certified plastic surgeon. Sadly, medical professionals, who should know better, take a weekend class in injectables or breast augmentation and then advertise as cosmetic surgeons.

Patients who opted to undergo treatment from an unqualified surgeon have been disfigured and even lost their lives.

Board certification by the American Board of Plastic Surgery ensures that the surgeon you are trusting with your face and body has had a significant amount of training and experience, including:

  • Graduation from an accredited medical school
  • At least three years of general surgery training
  • At least two years of plastic surgery training
  • Passage of comprehensive written and oral exams
  • Six months of surgical review by a panel of board-certified plastic surgeons

Dr. Michael Eisemann is board certified in three different specialties under the American Board of Plastic Surgery, as well as the American Board of Otolaryngology – head and neck surgery, and the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.

If you would like to learn more about Dr. Eisemann’s certifications and experience in providing high quality plastic surgery results, please contact Eisemann Plastic Surgery Center today at 713-766-0071 to schedule your appointment. Brazilian Butt Lift 101Using your own fat to sculpt your figure is one of the fastest growing trends in plastic surgery. Last year alone, buttock augmentations with fat grafting, commonly known as Brazilian butt lifts, increased 15 percent. A record 11,505 procedures were performed, and this year even more are expected.

The idea would seem promising to anyone – liposuction fat from unwanted regions on the abdomen, hips, or back and transfer it to round out your derriere. How do you know if it’s the right procedure to add volume to your behind? The best way to know if a Brazilian butt lift is right for you is to schedule a consultation with an experienced plastic surgeon, but before you do, take the time to understand the basics about the procedure.

  • The procedure is not a “lift” that requires surgical intervention and longer recovery time, like a breast lift would. The Brazilian butt lift simply takes fat from one area of your body and uses it to enhance another.
  • Fat transfer allows for a more natural look and feel than buttock implants. It also requires much less recovery time – generally only two to three weeks.
  • Injected fat can be reabsorbed into your body, so more than one procedure may be necessary to achieve the final results you want.

Would you like to explore the Brazilian butt lift option to contour your body? Please contact Eisemann Plastic Surgery Center today at 713-766-0071 to schedule your appointment with triple-board certified plastic surgeon Dr. Michael Eisemann. We welcome patients throughout Houston and the surrounding communities.

Liposuction and BMIResearchers at the University of Illinois’ Division of Plastic Surgery, Northwestern University’s Feinberg School of Medicine, and the Lehigh Valley (Pa.) Health Network recently released the findings of a new study that looked at the correlation between body mass index (BMI) and liposuction safety.

The results of the study indicated that “BMI plays a role in outcomes of liposuction volumes, and higher-BMI patients may be able to tolerate more liposuction than lower-BMI patients,” according to the co-author of the study, Dr. John Y. S. Kim.

He also stated that the study emphasized that “liposuction in the hands of properly trained surgeons is an exceedingly safe procedure with low morbidity.”

At Eisemann Plastic Surgery Center in Houston, Dr. Michael Eisemann is a triple-board certified plastic surgeon who puts patient safety and satisfaction at the top of his priorities. With over 30 years in practice, Dr. Eisemann has the experience and skill to achieve the natural-looking results you want in a safe and comfortable surgery environment.
