While most plastic surgeons would advocate that plastic surgery increases their patients’ quality of life, such an assertion may be taken with a grain of salt by the general public. But, according to a research study published in the April 2012 issue of Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery, one medical researcher found that liposuction in combination with tummy tuck has a significant, positive impact on patients. In this study, the researcher reviewed the outcomes from 360 patients who underwent liposuction, tummy tuck, and liposuction with tummy tuck. Outcomes were measured four months after surgery. Eighty-five percent of the patients were women with an average age of 42. Overall, patients who underwent plastic surgery for either liposuction of a tummy tuck reported an 86% increase in self-esteem, and 70% reported an improved quality of life. In fact, the patients who reported the highest satisfaction were those who had both a tummy tuck and liposuction. In this instance 99% of respondents said they would either have the procedures again, or recommend them to a friend.
