All over the world, there are patients who have some features that they are insecure about and want to improve. In today’s day and age, everyone is familiar with cosmetic procedures and the desire to make oneself look more beautiful. What you may not have heard of, however, is a patient looking to “fix” their existing beauty.
A story came out about a Chinese woman who reportedly wanted to undergo a cosmetic procedure to take away her beauty. This was after her boyfriend left her, apparently claiming he was afraid that she would leave him. This beautiful 23-year-old woman in Chongqing, China sought out a plastic surgeon who could distort her beautiful features and help her get her boyfriend back. The two had been together for about six years, and throughout their relationship, the boyfriend was constantly worried that she would eventually leave him as he perceived her to be “out of his league.”
She didn’t come to this decision immediately following the breakup. After the two split up, she was courted by scores of men who she would eventually deduce were only interested in her for her looks. She compared the authentic connection she had with her ex-boyfriend to her current prospects and realized that he was a much better partner than all of her recent suitors.
Fortunately, none of the plastic surgeons that she referred to agreed to perform surgery on her. Instead, they sent her to psychiatrists and psychologists to address her mental health issues. While her plight of dealing with shallow suitors is something many women can relate to, the idea of ruining one’s good looks is simply absurd. No reputable and respectable surgeon would ever agree to carry out such a treatment plan.
