Breast reconstruction following a mastectomy can be worrisome – especially after undergoing breast cancer treatment. Some breast cancer survivors elect to seek breast reconstruction after clearance by their oncologist, while others are fine without surgical intervention. Knowing what is covered, and what is not covered by insurance carriers in terms of reconstruction can be difficult. The Eisemann Plastic Surgery Center’s staff is very knowledgeable about this subject and can help to guide breast cancer survivors through this area. Generally, federal law requires that health insurers provide some coverage so that the patient can have breast reconstruction that will restore her breast as close as possible to its original state. We are here for our patients from the first moment they walk in the door, and well into the future.
