One question we at The Eisemann Plastic Surgery Center are asked on a frequent basis is whether lifting weights will provide a natural breast lift or enhance the breasts’ shape. While performing both cardiovascular and weight bearing exercise is good for overall health, it does not lift drooping breasts or affect the their shape. Weight lifting can improve the pectoral muscles, but the breasts sit atop the pectoralis major muscle group and are not impacted by weight lifting. The only way to actually lift breasts that have lost some of their pep is through mastopexy (breast lift) performed by a board certified plastic surgeon. We certainly don’t want to discourage our patients from lifting weights because it is very good for healthy bones.
