It is not unreasonable to expect that a surgeon who offers services such as breast surgery or body contouring has received proper training and competed residencies in aesthetic procedures. However, the truth is that anyone with a medical degree, regardless of their training, can offer cosmetic surgery procedures.

Only someone who has undergone additional training, completed residencies in cosmetic procedures, and met the strict qualifications of the American Board of Plastic Surgery (ABPS) can call himself a plastic surgeon. Make sure, when choosing a Houston plastic surgeon, you are selecting one who has been board-certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery.

If you are considering a plastic surgery procedure and live in Houston or any of the surrounding areas of Texas, please contact the Eisemann Plastic Surgery Center or call 713-790-1771 to schedule a consultation with Dr. Bradley Eisemann and our triple board-certified plastic surgeon, Dr. Michael Eisemann.

Becoming Board-Certified

For a doctor to become board-certified by the ABPS, he must first:

  • Graduate from a recognized and accredited medical school
  • Complete at least three years of training in general surgery through an accredited residency program
  • Complete a minimum of two years of training in plastic surgery through an accredited residency program
  • Hold a medical license
  • Pass comprehensive written and oral exams
  • Complete a six month probationary period in which all operative reports and pre and postoperative photographs are reviewed and accepted by a panel of board-certified plastic surgeons

Houston plastic surgeon Dr. Michael Eisemann has received board-certification in three different specialties from the American Board of Plastic Surgery and is also board-certified by the American Board of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, and the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.

Practice Policy Update Regarding COVID-19

Dr. Michael Eisemann, Dr. Bradley Eisemann, and the entire staff at Eisemann Plastic Surgery are committed to the health and safety of all of our patients and ourselves.

We are thankful to be connected to Houston Methodist Hospital, one of the most respected hospitals in the country. Because of this, our screening policy is aided by the hospital's official policies and checkpoint screening measures completed prior to entering our building. These measures allow us to do everything we can, at this point in time, to minimize the chance that we expose ourselves or our patients to someone who has been sick or contagious with the virus.

We are fully open seeing new and existing patients, and we continue to offer consults and patient follow-ups utilizing ZOOM video conferencing.

All major hospitals in the Houston area allowing scheduling of elective surgeries and we are performing operative procedures in our procedure room and in our AAAASF certified operating room under local and IV sedation.

We have added new policies regarding the number of patients in the office, and all staff and patients must wear facemasks. We continue to maintain vigilance for hygiene and plan to maintain these policies for some time.

As always, both Dr. Michael Eisemann and Dr. Bradley Eisemann are available by phone and email to answer any questions you may have.
