Ethical Marketing In Cosmetic And Plastic Surgery

Part of living in the digital information age includes being subjected to all kinds of buzzwords and terms. One that has recently made its way onto the radar of The American Society of plastic Surgeons is: Liquid Facelift. A facelift is an intricate surgical procedure designed for the individual patient’s musculature, facial structures, medical history and patient’s realistic objectives. A “liquid facelift” is NOT a facelift, and the term is completely misleading. Some practitioners imply, or do not correct the misconception, that this is in no way equivalent to a facelift. A liquid facelift is generally comprised of treatment by several kinds of cosmetic injectables. It is not permanent, nor does it address facial laxity that is corrected during facelift surgery. Plastic surgeons are not disparaging the use of FDA cleared injectables like Botox® and dermal fillers, because they are useful for treating many, many patients. It’s like the advice your parents or grandparents used to give you…If it’s too good to be true, then it probably is.
