Exercise After Breast Augmentation

If you’re like many of our patients, you’re a healthy, active Houston-area woman who enjoys working out and keeping in shape. As such, you might be worried about how a breast augmentation will affect your exercise regimen.

Fortunately, a breast augmentation will not prevent you from enjoying the active lifestyle you have long cultivated. You can engage in all of your normal workouts once you have fully recovered from your breast augmentation.

That “fully recovered” is important. You need to give yourself plenty of time to recover from your augmentation. This means taking it easy in the weeks after your procedure. Most women are able to resume light workouts about four weeks after an augmentation and a full workout regimen within six to eight weeks.

If your exercise routine is intense and important to you, be sure and discuss this with Dr. Eisemann as it can affect the choices you make. Long-distance runners and weightlifters might wish to choose a slightly smaller implant size or a different implant placement, for example.
