Eyelid Surgery – What a Difference!

There’s a reason the saying goes “the eyes are the windows to the soul.” In so many ways they are, and eyelids can either showcase our eyes or detract from their natural beauty.  We’ve all seen people who have excess fat deposits either above or below the eyes, or bags under the eyes.  When you reach the point that expensive eye creams, gels and treatments from aesthetician are no longer effective, then you should consider talking to a plastic surgeon about eyelid enhancement surgery.  Though eyelid surgery sounds daunting, it’s actually one of the best-tolerated procedures leaving few if any visible scars.  Scarring is usually minimal after three weeks and nearly undetectable in about six weeks.  Since this is an elective plastic surgery procedure, the expense will likely be 100% out-of-pocket unless you can convince your insurance carrier that droopy eyelids impair vision to the point it affects your daily activities, like driving.  In the upper eyelids the surgeon makes incision in the crease of your eyelids.  Lower eyelid incisions are made just below the eyelashes.  During the procedure excess fat and tissue are removed. Some surgeries can be accomplished by making incisions inside the lower eyelid with dissolving sutures.  This method is called a transconjunctival Blepharoplasty.  Eyelid enhancement surgery usually takes between 1-2 hours, requires a relatively short recovery period, and produces fantastic results.  Dr. Michael Eisemann of the Eisemann Plastic Surgery Center in Houston is an excellent plastic surgeon that has performed considerable eyelid enhancement surgeries.

Practice Policy Update Regarding COVID-19

Dr. Michael Eisemann, Dr. Bradley Eisemann, and the entire staff at Eisemann Plastic Surgery are committed to the health and safety of all of our patients and ourselves.

We are thankful to be connected to Houston Methodist Hospital, one of the most respected hospitals in the country. Because of this, our screening policy is aided by the hospital's official policies and checkpoint screening measures completed prior to entering our building. These measures allow us to do everything we can, at this point in time, to minimize the chance that we expose ourselves or our patients to someone who has been sick or contagious with the virus.

We are set up to perform new consults and patient follow-ups via ZOOM video conferencing.

As of Monday, March 23rd, our office is open. We are open and seeing select patients. If you are currently on the schedule, please call our office if you have any concerns about your own health.

While all major hospitals have stopped elective surgery at this time, we are very selectively performing indicated operative procedures in our procedure room and in our AAAASF certified operating room under local and IV sedation.

As always, both Dr. Michael Eisemann and Dr. Bradley Eisemann are available by phone and email to answer any questions you may have.
