Facial Refinement: Fat Grafting In Houston

Though many plastic surgery patients seek to remove fat through body contouring, it’s a little ironic that some seek to have fat taken from one area only to be transferred to another.  One technique plastic surgeons use to refine the face is fat grafting. This is a procedure that permits surgeons to utilize the patient’s own fat tissue to plump up creases, fine lines, or underdeveloped areas of the face.  Fat grafting can also help one’s lips look fuller.  The fat is harvested from a “donor” area, processed, and then grafted to facial tissues.  Fat grafting is much more involved than merely removing fat from the belly or inner thighs and then injecting it into other areas.  The fat is carefully and strategically injected and cross-layered making a stable foundation – otherwise the intended appearance may not be achieved.  Though fat grafting is a wonderful technique to refine and restore the face, it is also very useful for other areas of the body such as creating a fuller buttocks or more developed calves.  Though some of the grafted fat will be reabsorbed into the body through natural processes, a significant amount will remain in place.  Before committing to a fat grafting procedure, make sure the plastic surgeon is board certified by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons and has a high level of experience in this procedure.  Patients may rest assured that Michael Eisemann, M.D., a three time board certified plastic surgeon, has over 30 years of experience.

Practice Policy Update Regarding COVID-19

Dr. Michael Eisemann, Dr. Bradley Eisemann, and the entire staff at Eisemann Plastic Surgery are committed to the health and safety of all of our patients and ourselves.

We are thankful to be connected to Houston Methodist Hospital, one of the most respected hospitals in the country. Because of this, our screening policy is aided by the hospital's official policies and checkpoint screening measures completed prior to entering our building. These measures allow us to do everything we can, at this point in time, to minimize the chance that we expose ourselves or our patients to someone who has been sick or contagious with the virus.

We are set up to perform new consults and patient follow-ups via ZOOM video conferencing.

As of Monday, March 23rd, our office is open. We are open and seeing select patients. If you are currently on the schedule, please call our office if you have any concerns about your own health.

While all major hospitals have stopped elective surgery at this time, we are very selectively performing indicated operative procedures in our procedure room and in our AAAASF certified operating room under local and IV sedation.

As always, both Dr. Michael Eisemann and Dr. Bradley Eisemann are available by phone and email to answer any questions you may have.
