Facts About Houston Body Lift Surgery

Body lift surgery is designed for patients who have lost significant amounts of weight through diet and exercise or even through bariatric surgery. Following weight loss of 60 pounds or more it is not unusual for patients to notice loose and sagging skin in various areas where they lost weight. These areas can include the upper arms, trunk, abdomen, upper thighs, inner thighs, and/or buttocks. Patients who have lost extreme amounts of weight can be left with loose, sagging skin because over time the skin can lose its natural elasticity from the excessive body volume over an extended period of time. Depending on the patient’s desires, body lift surgery can be extensive focusing on many areas of the body. Therefore, this surgery’s duration can be anywhere from two to eight hours. When pounds of loose skin are removed from the body, this does lead to some scarring. For example, if the patient has loose skin removed from the inner thighs, the patient can expect scarring between the legs. Body lift surgery can involve a tummy tuck (abdominoplasty), inner thigh lift, outer thigh and buttock lift, breast lift (mastopexy), and upper arm lift (brachioplasty). Recovery time for a body lift varies by the area(s) on which your plastic surgeon must operate. Depending on the patient, he/she may have drains post-operatively which will be removed at a follow-up visit, and returning to work and normal activities could take anywhere from two to eight weeks depending on the extent of surgery. The Eisemann Plastic Surgery Center welcomes you to seek a consultation. Losing a large amount of weight is exciting and rewarding, and we are excited to assist our patients achieve the look they’re looking for.

Practice Policy Update Regarding COVID-19

Dr. Michael Eisemann, Dr. Bradley Eisemann, and the entire staff at Eisemann Plastic Surgery are committed to the health and safety of all of our patients and ourselves.

We are thankful to be connected to Houston Methodist Hospital, one of the most respected hospitals in the country. Because of this, our screening policy is aided by the hospital's official policies and checkpoint screening measures completed prior to entering our building. These measures allow us to do everything we can, at this point in time, to minimize the chance that we expose ourselves or our patients to someone who has been sick or contagious with the virus.

We are set up to perform new consults and patient follow-ups via ZOOM video conferencing.

As of Monday, March 23rd, our office is open. We are open and seeing select patients. If you are currently on the schedule, please call our office if you have any concerns about your own health.

While all major hospitals have stopped elective surgery at this time, we are very selectively performing indicated operative procedures in our procedure room and in our AAAASF certified operating room under local and IV sedation.

As always, both Dr. Michael Eisemann and Dr. Bradley Eisemann are available by phone and email to answer any questions you may have.
