Hyaluronic Acid Gel And Breast Augmentation

When considering the population of patients who elect breast augmentation via surgical implantation of silicone or saline breast implants, one only addresses a small segment of the population who would like to have breast augmentation. However, not all patients are in favor of a surgical intervention. Aesthetic medicine technology now offers some alternatives to having a traditional breast augmentation surgery. One option is hyaluronic acid gel injections, and one physician in Stockholm purports that there are immediate results with minimal discomfort. As with all things there are pros and cons to this type of breast augmentation. The pros are that this procedure generally results in a positive appearance, shape and firmness of the breast tissue. Additionally, there are no incisions or downtime. However, this procedure is so new that there is extremely limited data on outcomes over the long-term, whereas breast implants are the most studied medical device on the planet. Perhaps the largest disadvantage is the unpredictability of how quickly and evenly the hyaluronic acid gel absorbs. For instance, after 12 months, the amount of absorption can range from 5% to 85%. While this approach to breast augmentation may one day be well studied and understood, Houston patients seeking non-invasive breast augmentation may wish to consult with Dr. Michael Eisemann about an alternative called Brava.

Practice Policy Update Regarding COVID-19

Dr. Michael Eisemann, Dr. Bradley Eisemann, and the entire staff at Eisemann Plastic Surgery are committed to the health and safety of all of our patients and ourselves.

We are thankful to be connected to Houston Methodist Hospital, one of the most respected hospitals in the country. Because of this, our screening policy is aided by the hospital's official policies and checkpoint screening measures completed prior to entering our building. These measures allow us to do everything we can, at this point in time, to minimize the chance that we expose ourselves or our patients to someone who has been sick or contagious with the virus.

We are set up to perform new consults and patient follow-ups via ZOOM video conferencing.

As of Monday, March 23rd, our office is open. We are open and seeing select patients. If you are currently on the schedule, please call our office if you have any concerns about your own health.

While all major hospitals have stopped elective surgery at this time, we are very selectively performing indicated operative procedures in our procedure room and in our AAAASF certified operating room under local and IV sedation.

As always, both Dr. Michael Eisemann and Dr. Bradley Eisemann are available by phone and email to answer any questions you may have.
