Restore Your Confidence with Natural-Looking Breast Augmentation

Round, voluptuous breasts are considered among the hallmarks of a youthful, feminine physique, yet as the body ages, the breasts may lose their volume and shape, distorting the figure and lowering self-confidence. Breast augmentation can beautifully restore a balanced upper body, increasing your wardrobe options and boosting your self-image. While many women choose to opt for dramatic changes with a jump in cup size, breast augmentation surgery doesn't need to look unnatural. It can simply revive your figure after pregnancy or aging, making you look and feel more like yourself.

What is breast augmentation?

One of the most popular procedures we perform at Eisemann Plastic Surgery Center is breast augmentation – also known as augmentation mammoplasty, or breast enlargement with breast implants. Some women feel that their breasts are too small for their bodies. Others want to restore breast volume lost due to aging, weight loss, or pregnancy. The end result is always enhanced beauty and confidence.

Each woman is different, and our breast augmentations in Houston are fully customized based on your unique goals and anatomy. Breast augmentation can correct breast asymmetry, improve breast sagging, or reconstruct a breast following surgery for breast cancer.

Dr. Michael Eisemann and Dr. Bradley Eisemann may also recommend a breast lift (mastopexy) at the same time as the breast augmentation surgery if your breasts have lost their natural perkiness along with volume.

How is breast augmentation performed?

Breast augmentation is typically an outpatient procedure, performed with general anesthesia or under local anesthesia with IV sedation in our nationally accredited Houston operating room facility. Our surgical facility is accredited by the AAAASF, American Association for Accreditation of Ambulatory Surgery Facilities, Inc. Depending on the type of implants you select during your consultation with Dr. Michael Eisemann and Dr. Bradley Eisemann, the details of the surgical procedure will vary.

Common incision placements are under the breasts, around the areola, in the armpit, or through the belly button. The implants are placed either above or below chest muscles. Many patients choose to combine breast augmentation with a breast lift to achieve the most aesthetically pleasing look. These procedures can be performed in conjunction to increase both the volume and perkiness of your breasts.

What types of breast implants are right for me?

All breast implants have a silicone outer shell and are filled with either silicone or saline. The shape of a breast implant can be either round or tear-drop shaped, and the outer shell can be either smooth or textured. The implants range in width, height, projection, fill, and level of silicone cohesiveness. The highly cohesive implants are often referred to as “gummy bear” implants.

Our Houston breast augmentation surgeons will discuss each type of implant with you so you can make an educated decision about how to proceed. Because all implants have benefits and drawbacks, it is very important to have a surgeon who is educated in determining how to select the right implants for your goals.

  • Silicone implants

These are the implants most commonly chosen by women, as the weight, bounce, and softness most closely mimic natural breast tissue. There is usually less risk of rippling. The level of cohesivity determines how the implants feel. These are often referred to as the "Gummy Bear" implants.

  • Saline implants

Saline implants have the advantage of being filled after placement. Our surgeons can perform this procedure by placing the implants through the under-surface of the breast or through an incision in the armpit, leaving no visible scars on the chest or breast.

  • Anatomically Shaped Implants

Anatomic implants are teardrop shaped and have a unique texturing that helps keep the implant in the correct position and orientation. These implants are placed for very specific indications and can have their own advantages.

Breast Augmentation Recovery Timeline

Recovery from breast augmentation in Houston is a personal issue. How your body responds to surgery, your natural healing abilities, and other factors unique to your procedure will make your recovery different from anyone else’s. It is reassuring that Houston breast surgeons Dr. Michael Eisemann and Dr. Bradley Eisemann, along with their professional staff, will support you through the entirety of your recovery and are available to you should any concerns arise.

Week one

Mild exercise such as walking should be resumed on the day of your surgical procedure. Frequent walks can help reduce swelling and speed up recovery. You should avoid more strenuous activities that can impact your incisions until Dr. Michael Eisemann or Dr. Bradley Eisemann advise otherwise. Generally, this is within two to six weeks.

Week two

Swelling and bruising may continue for several weeks, but most women are able to resume work and some normal activities within five to seven days. During your initial consultation, we will discuss with you how long you should take off of work based on the physical demands of your job.

Week four

The swelling and bruising are over, and your implants have settled into place, in most cases. Your new breasts are ready to be revealed in low-cut tops, lingerie, or a swimsuit.

Week eight

You should have achieved almost a full recovery. If your implants were placed through the breast fold, the scar is still visible and will usually fade to a thin line over the weeks and months ahead. It is hidden beneath the breast mound, and not easily visible.

Breast Augmentation FAQs

Are there risks involved?

Breast augmentation is a surgical procedure and, as such, comes with potential risks and complications. To undergo a breast augmentation procedure, you should understand that complications can occur, although rare. It is essential that you follow Dr. Michael Eisemann and Dr. Bradley Eisemann’s pre- and post-surgical instructions to minimize risks.

How does smoking affect my results?

Smoking can significantly increase your risk of complications, both during and after surgery. It can lead to poor wound healing, infection and poor cosmetic results. Our team advises that you be nicotine-free (including the patch and gum) for 4-6 weeks before and after your breast augmentation.

How will pregnancy affect my results?

The hormones released during pregnancy, along with weight fluctuations, can lead to major changes in your breasts. For this reason, many surgeons recommend that you are finished having children before undergoing breast enhancement, as childbirth can compromise your cosmetic outcome. However, if you wish to have children later, there is nothing to stop you from doing so.
