Facial implants: The procedure
The location and type of implant will determine the incision used and the method of placing and securing the implant. Incisions are typically hidden inside the mouth, on the inner surface of the eyelid, or in the hairline. The goal is to always minimize the visibility of any scarring.
Rather than undergoing the procedure under general anesthesia, at Eisemann Plastic Surgery Center we offer IV sedation with a nerve block for some of our facial implant procedures. Our level of training and expertise in operating room procedures allows us to provide this option. Rather than being entirely sedated, you will be partially awake and free from pain or anxiety during your surgery. Depending on the type of facial implant, the surgery usually lasts from one to three hours.
