Hair Transplant with SmartGraft

Men — you can stop and reverse devastating hair loss today with a revolutionary new treatment at Eisemann Plastic Surgery Center. You might feel better than you ever have right now. You have taken charge of your health, workout regularly and maintain a healthy diet. You feel like every aspect of your life and health are under control — except your hair.

Hair loss is natural but not inevitable. Even perfectly healthy men of all ages will lose some hair every day. Your hair grows in cycles, so as some follicles reach the end of their lifespan, new follicles will grow-in to replenish them, keeping your scalp looking full, youthful and vibrant. However, for a variety of reasons, many men will experience excessive hair loss that can severely damage their looks and confidence.

Multiple medical and genetic factors can rapidly accelerate hair loss, and these can be challenging to control. This doesn’t mean your battle with hair loss is over. SmartGraft™, a new, safe and effective treatment for hair loss, can give you back control over your look. We can recreate the attractive head of hair you want and the confidence you deserve.

You can enhance your results from a SmartGraft treatment when you choose a skilled, qualified and experienced surgeon to perform your procedure. Dr. Michael Eisemann and Dr. Bradley Eisemann can tailor and personalize your results so that your hair looks completely natural.

What causes male hair loss?

To understand the full value of a SmartGraft treatment, it helps to understand the reasons why hair loss occurs. For most men, genetics plays the most significant role, leading to a condition commonly called male pattern baldness. This form of hair loss affects up to 50 percent of the male population and the number of men who struggle with the issue significantly increases with age.

The signs of male pattern baldness begin around the crown of the head and then extends throughout the top of the head. This often leaves behind a ring of hair along the sides and back of the head. In male pattern baldness, fewer new hair follicles grow back with time and each hair new follicle which does grow back comes in shorter and thinner.

How can SmartGraft™ stop male pattern baldness and hair thinning?

SmartGraft can replenish areas of the scalp where you have lost a significant amount of hair. Because thinning areas of the scalp receive hair follicles which are resistant to male pattern baldness, your new vibrant look can last for years.

Each treatment is precisely customized to achieve the look a patient desires. SmartGraft is exceptionally safe since it uses your own hair follicles. Performed under local anesthesia, the procedure is incredibly safe and performed in the the comfort of the Eisemann Plastic Surgery Center’s in office operating room.

How does SmartGraft work?

SmaftGraft can help you overcome male pattern baldness and thinning hair by implanting strong, healthy hairs to areas of the scalp where you need them most, restoring fullness and an attractive, styleable look that is uniquely our own. SmartGraft uses your own hair for total safety and ensures a completely natural look.

The treatment uses a process called FUE — follicular unit extraction. In FUE, the first step is to extract hair follicles from donor areas of the scalp, areas that have a high density of follicles. Thse follicles are then carefully implanted into recipient areas of the scalp.

Why is a FUE treatment by SmartGraft superior to all other hair restoration treatments?

SmartGraft represents the evolution of traditional hair restoration treatments. Previously, hair tranplants required surgically excising a strip of the scalp with healthy hairs. The donor site was then closed in a line, leaving a transverse scar on the back of the head. The excised strip of scalp was then carefully cut to create individul follicular units.

This method has significant drawbacks. The procedure was long and a permanent scar was necessary. Even the most thin scar can be hard to conceal, especially in patients who like to keep their hair short.

SmartGraft uses FUE to change this scenario. Individual follicular units are extracted and the donor site is so small, it is essentially imperceptible after initial healing.

SmartGraft allows for precision and efficiency for both the donor site and the recipient site. Since you won’t have a horizontal scar on your scalp, you can enjoy much greater freedom styling your hair wearing it any way you want.

The Benefits of SmartGraft™

SmartGraft has so many benefits over competing hair restoration treatments that it’s worth repeating to them — this can help make your selection of hair restoration treatments significantly easier.

SmartGraft offers:

  • A short and comfortable recovery time with no incisions and faster healing in both the donor and recipient areas
  • A state-of-the-art hair follicle harvesting device, which allows for improved precision and enhanced safety.
  • The most natural-looking results using your own hair
  • Extremely long-lasting results since hair grafts are selected from regions of the scalp that are resistant to male pattern baldness
  • A hair restoration solution for other areas of the body where hair loss has become a problem, including the eyebrows

What is the SmartGraft™ procedure like?

Your SmartGraft procedure begins with an in-depth consultation with Dr. Michael Eisemann and Dr. Bradley Eisemann. They will examine your concerns and help to develop goals for your individual procedure. You will play an integral part in helping to plan the final look.

The design of your new hairline will take into account several critical factors that will give you the best look possible now and also for years to come. For example, your age and the extent of your current hair loss will be considered, as well as the potential for any future hair loss. Your donor area will also be carefully selected so that you will experience minimal impact in that region after your procedure.

Your SmartGraft treatment will be performed on an outpatient basis. Before having treatment, you will receive local anesthesia. After you are completely comfortable, Dr. Michael Eisemann and Dr. Bradley Eisemann will use the SmartGraft handheld device to carefully extract individual follicular units from your donor areas. Each unit contains one to four hair follicles. The device will leave behind a small circular incisions which heal quickly.

While you are able to return home on the same day as your procedure, the length of your procedure will depend on the number of grafts your final look requires. Patients commonly require between 500 and 2,500 grafts to achieve their results. Depending on the number of doctors and assistancts, the procedure length will range from 2-8 hours.

What is recovery from SmartGraft like?

The ease and speed of recovery is one of the greatest benefits of the SmartGraft system. The donor site incisions are small and are difficult to see, even a few days after the procedure. The donor and recipient sites require careful cleaning for the first few days after the procedure. The staff at the Eisemann Plastic Surgery Center will help you ease through this process. Pain control is easily managed with over-the-counter pain relievers.

You will likely want to take the first couple of days after your procedure off to rest. However, as soon as you feel comfortable, you can return to your normal daily routine.

Practice Policy Update Regarding COVID-19

Dr. Michael Eisemann, Dr. Bradley Eisemann, and the entire staff at Eisemann Plastic Surgery are committed to the health and safety of all of our patients and ourselves.

We are thankful to be connected to Houston Methodist Hospital, one of the most respected hospitals in the country. Because of this, our screening policy is aided by the hospital's official policies and checkpoint screening measures completed prior to entering our building. These measures allow us to do everything we can, at this point in time, to minimize the chance that we expose ourselves or our patients to someone who has been sick or contagious with the virus.

We are set up to perform new consults and patient follow-ups via ZOOM video conferencing.

As of Monday, March 23rd, our office is open. We are open and seeing select patients. If you are currently on the schedule, please call our office if you have any concerns about your own health.

While all major hospitals have stopped elective surgery at this time, we are very selectively performing indicated operative procedures in our procedure room and in our AAAASF certified operating room under local and IV sedation.

As always, both Dr. Michael Eisemann and Dr. Bradley Eisemann are available by phone and email to answer any questions you may have.
