Achieve Sculpted Calves with Expert Calf Implants

The calf muscles can often take years of exercise to develop into a full, desirable shape and size. Even after much dedication and discipline working out, many people experience poor results because some people simply do not have the genetics to achieve calves they desire. While women usually want accentuated curves from calf implants, men generally seek calf implants to simply increase the size and mass of the lower leg, giving the appearance of hours and hours of gym-time working out the calves.

How do calf implants work?

Soft but solid calf implants are made of form stable silicone. The implants are surgically inserted into the lower legs to enhance either one or both medial and lateral heads of the muscle. The implants are placed beneath the fascia covering the calf muscles, the gastrocnemius muscles. While most men increase both the medial and lateral heads of the calf muscle during calf implant surgery, most cases of obvious muscle imbalance or trauma to the lower leg call for only one of the heads to be augmented. The implants can be inserted through a small incision in the back of the knee, and recovery can take a few weeks to a month.

Calf implants for men

Many men come into Dr. Michael Eisemann and Dr. Bradley Eisemann’s office asking for the largest calf implants possible, even though this may not achieve the best cosmetic result. It is essential to evaluate balance and proportion with the rest of the body before deciding on the size of the implant as it is quite easy to overdo the size of the implant without proper consideration and planning.

Calf implants for women

Many women feel that their legs are less attractive due to minimal calf muscle definition. The lower legs can be enhanced with the placement of carefully selected calf implants, with the surgery performed by two of Houston’s most acclaimed plastic surgeons, the father-son team of Dr. Michael Eisemann and Dr. Bradley Eisemann.

Who is a candidate for calf implants?

Calf implants may be right for men and women who are in at least average physical condition, in good health, and who are dissatisfied with the size and appearance of their calf muscles. This cosmetic surgery can achieve the following:

  • Add volume to thinner lower legs for a more sculpted look
  • Give the appearance of well-developed calf muscles
  • Create a more appealing leg contour
  • Add definition to the lower legs
  • Correct a muscle size imbalance

What is the calf implant recovery time?

Calf implant surgery at Eisemann Cosmetic Surgery Center is an outpatient procedure in which you return home the same day. You will need to avoid strenuous activity for at least a month after the surgery while you recover, giving the muscle and skin tissue proper time to heal.

Your skin may appear shiny and tight until it stretches around the calf implants, and slight bruising and swelling may take a few weeks to a month to recede. While recovery can be slightly uncomfortable while the incisions heal, and the lower legs adjust to the added pressure, most men and women are extraordinarily pleased with the results of calf implant surgery at Eisemann Cosmetic Surgery Center.
