Rhinoplasty, or nose reduction and reshaping, is a very popular procedure that can have prodigious effects not only in a person’s facial balance, but also in their self-esteem. Although traditionally thought of as a cosmetic surgery for female patients, an increasing number of male patients are looking to nose reduction and reshaping procedures to change the appearance of their nose and their overall facial balance.

In fact, according to the American Board of Plastic Surgeons, more than 75,000 male nose reduction and reshaping procedures are performed yearly in the United States. Male nose reduction or reshaping is a surgery that has become very popular for men in light of the fact that it can help alter the shape and contour of the nose, which can be a source of embarrassment and self-consciousness for many men.

Video imaging is done as a teaching and communication aid.

The nose reduction and reshaping procedure is essentially the same for men and women. However, there are differences in the aesthetics of the male face and nose versus the female nose that must be taken into consideration. Each male patient’s goals will be addressed to achieve the desired outcome through nose reduction and reshaping at the Eisemann Plastic Surgery Center in Houston.

Male nose reduction and reshaping is a procedure that restructures the nose to improve its appearance and function. The nose reduction and reshaping procedure at the Eisemann Plastic Surgery Center in Houston, TX involves a small incision either inside the nose or across the skin that separates the nostrils. The cartilage and bone that make up the framework of the nose are then exposed and may be sculpted to create the desired shape and profile. There are many ways in which a male nose can be altered through rhinoplasty, or nose reduction and reshaping, including reducing or increasing the size of the nose, changing the shape of the tip or the bridge, narrowing the span of the nostrils, or altering the angle between the nose and the upper lip, and using your own cartilage grafts.

Nose reduction and reshaping surgery at Eisemann Plastic Surgery Center in Houston is generally performed under general anesthesia or under local anesthesia with IV sedation, and usually takes just 1 – 2 hours. As it is an outpatient procedure, patients will be able to return to the comfort of home that same day. Most patients can return to work one week after their procedure.

Men who have undergone male nose reshaping and restructuring have found that the aesthetic alterations can improve breathing, raise self-esteem, and bring more balance to facial features.

Practice Policy Update Regarding COVID-19

Dr. Michael Eisemann, Dr. Bradley Eisemann, and the entire staff at Eisemann Plastic Surgery are committed to the health and safety of all of our patients and ourselves.

We are thankful to be connected to Houston Methodist Hospital, one of the most respected hospitals in the country. Because of this, our screening policy is aided by the hospital's official policies and checkpoint screening measures completed prior to entering our building. These measures allow us to do everything we can, at this point in time, to minimize the chance that we expose ourselves or our patients to someone who has been sick or contagious with the virus.

We are set up to perform new consults and patient follow-ups via ZOOM video conferencing.

As of Monday, March 23rd, our office is open. We are open and seeing select patients. If you are currently on the schedule, please call our office if you have any concerns about your own health.

While all major hospitals have stopped elective surgery at this time, we are very selectively performing indicated operative procedures in our procedure room and in our AAAASF certified operating room under local and IV sedation.

As always, both Dr. Michael Eisemann and Dr. Bradley Eisemann are available by phone and email to answer any questions you may have.
